About Scarlett Butler

Scarlett Butler is what happens when two of Canada’s most celebrated songwriters decide it’s finally time to keep the best songs for themselves.

Made up of real-life couple Joni Delaurier and Troy Kokol, this Canadian duo has quietly shaped the country and Americana landscape, writing more than 300 songs for artists including Shane Yellowbird, Tenille Townes, Brett Kissel, and The Higgins. Their breakout co-write “Pickup Truck” (Shane Yellowbird) was named one of Billboard’s top Canadian country songs of all time, spending 12 weeks in the BDS Top 10 and earning them SOCAN Songwriter of the Year nominations and national acclaim.

But Scarlett Butler isn’t just the sum of their past success - it’s the start of something more intimate, more exposed, and all theirs.

Their debut album Until Now, coming in 2026 is the sound of love, longing, and finally stepping into the spotlight. With 13 tracks that walk the line between Americana, alt-country, and cinematic folk, it’s a lush, harmony-rich exploration of connection, timing, and finding your voice after helping others use theirs for years.

For fans of The Civil Wars, Wild Rivers, and Jason Isbell meets Kacey Musgraves, Scarlett Butler is not just another songwriting duo. They have been writing the soundtrack all along - and now, they’re performing it.

“Our partnership works the same in life as it does in music - we just genuinely love to be together,” says Delaurier. “We hope that translates when we perform and that people feel something real from us.”

“We have a whole new freedom to create songs that truly reflect who we are,” says Kokol. “We’re just getting started in that joyful space.”
